Want to Install Mods and Custom Content (PC ONLY)

FAQ:

Q: What are mods?
A: Mods are files you download and install into the Sims 3 game, that changes or adds some aspect of the game.

Q: Where can i download these mods?
A: You can Google mods for Sims 3 and see what comes up but some sites are not very good due to being infested with viruses, malware, spyware etc... a very trusted site that you can sign up for but totally free is http://www.modthesims.info/

Q: So what is Custom Content?
A: Custom Content is Content for the Sims 3 game made by Sim players like yourself.

Q: Where can i download the custom content?
A: There is a website for the Sims 3 made by the gaming company EA (Electronic Arts) you can sign up however it does cost to buy some stuff, there is free stuff though too! in the exchange or even in the catalog sometimes. BE CAREFUL WITH DOWNLOADING STUFF FROM THE EXCHANGE BECAUSE SOME PLAYERS UPLOAD STUFF ON TO THERE THAT ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THE GAME! These are some good and reliable sites to download custom content too, just Google them and they should pop up:
 1. Anubis under the sun
2. Xm sims
3. Lemonleafs
4. Subaxi
5.Peggyzone
6. Kero7423
7. The 13th sim
8. Freshprince creations
9. Lianasims
10. My blue book

Q: So....How Exactly do I install these mods and Custom Content?

Installing Mods....

so you want to learn how to install mods huh? well no problem ill show you how my dear friend lol.

Things you will need:

Step 1: Go to the winrar link above and download winrar. (wait why do I need this? well winrar is a Archive manager It can backup your data and reduce the size of email attachments, decompress RAR, ZIP and other files downloaded from Internet and create new archives in RAR and ZIP file format. which you will need to do that with these mod files)

Step 2: go to http://www.modthesims.info/ (that's the site i prefer) make sure you make an account (its free) that is the only way you will be able to download these mods.

Modthesims.com

Step 3: Pick out a mod that you like or want in your game, read the creators information about the mod just so you know what is expected and how it works etc.. then you download the files needed.

Step 4: Click on this link http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files and go down to where is says download and it has a little pic of a floppy disk (you need to download this to setup your game for Custom Content) this will tell you step by step to get the mod folder.

Step 5: once you have gotten the folder if the instructions above were done correctly you click on the mod you downloaded earlier winrar should pop up, once it does you highlight over the folders and click extract to.

Step 6: you extract it to: username>documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3>mods>packages then click okay then it is added to them game. To check to make sure you've done it correctly start the game up when you get to your main menu screen and little blue screen should pop up saying that mod scripts were found!

Downloading Custom Content...

Luckily downloading custom content is pretty much the same way haha. If you're downloading it from the sims 3 website http://www.thesims3.com/ You just find what you want and click download it, your game launcher should pop up and immediately start the downloading. As for getting them from other websites like the ones listed above they usually have a sim3.pack which basically works the same as the official website except the winrar shows up and you click the pic with the sims 3 Plumbob (diamond) on it, the installing dialog box should show up. however if the CC doesn't have the sims3.pack you just download it, click on it, winrar should pop up, do the same process when adding mods except you put the cc file inside the downloads folder, and there you have it.

Step 1: Insert the Disk into your local disk (C:)

Step 3: The Installation will start and you will get a screen asking to agree to their terms and asking your country, then you will be asked the installation code, that comes on the back of the booklet that's inside the case, type that in and then click next.

Step 4: There will be two options that come up, basically asking where do you want to save the files on your pc the first option (general option) to save the files in your documents folder the second option (recommended for experienced users) to save the files in a location you prefer.
